During the first days of free agency under the new CBA, Minnesota Lynx fans were losing their collective minds as they watched other teams fill their rosters with the team’s now former players.

Players pilfered from Lynx coffers include: Aussie Alana Smith now with the Dallas Wings; Natisha Hiedeman now with the Seattle Storm; and Jessica Shepherd also with the Dallas Wings.
And there were others: Bridget Carlton (Portland Fire) and Maria Kliundikova (Toronto Tempo)
The only person we knew was on the roster was Naphessa (Phee) Collier who looks to be out for most of the season as she recovers from double ankle surgery.
Things got so desperate there was thought of recruiting Phee’s famous scooter and her famously cute toddler Mila.
But it’s always darkest before the dawn and on Sunday morning our spirits were resurrected as we read the news that Courtney “Studbudz” Williams and Kayla “KMac” McBride had signed multi-year multimillion dollar contracts with the Lynx.

Cue the praise dancing.
After that bit of great news, the roster began to fill out quite nicely with the addition of former Lynx Natasha Howard and Minnesota native and former Atlanta Dream Nia Coffey.

Now we fans can sleep easy. Coach Big Cheryl Reeve, how did we ever doubt you? It’s In Cheryl We Trust until the wheels fall off.
(Note: I’m writing this before the WNBA Draft where I hope Big Cheryl will do the right thing and draft UCLA’s Lauren Betts. *fingers crossed*)
