I, and my fellow Minnesota Lynx shade tree GMs came to the conclusion that we wanted UCLA’s Lauren Betts or Spain’s Awa Fam as our choice for the #2 pick of the WNBA Draft.
After crunching on chips rather than numbers, I, the most casual of fans decided we need more height and rim protection in our decimated front court —the result of a decisively transformational CBA which led our players seek dollars elsewhere.
Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve laughed in our collective faces and let us know just in case we forgot she is HBIC in this bish and proceeded to pick TCU/ND standout point guard Olivia Miles.

After we (I wasn’t alone in my dispair) picked our jaws off the floor, took several deep cleansing breaths and heard what the HBIC had say about her decision to go against our wishes, we began to see the vision.
Yes, Olivia is a generational talent a true point guard, not some hybrid from the basketball lab. She will be under the tutelage of legendary Lynx point guard turned assistant coach Lindsay Whalen. And she pinky swore to Cheryl that she’s more than fancy no look passes and will add capable defending to her repertoire.
Liv will be welcomed presence on the court and will allow combo guard Courtney Williams to move to the 2 and to set up the rest of her team for success around the rim.
As for me, in what I might describe as record time, I’ve become a Liv stan in the making. Unapologetically herself — from the suit and tie to the fluffy Afro, the Jersey gal with the gift or for gab, gobs of confidence and a game that may prove to be generational, she’s already got folks like me wanting to cop her gear.

Can’t wait to see her ball out. Walking highlight reel loading.
Los Lynx. Let’s ride.
